This intergenerational dialogue provides a platform for dynamic exchange highlighting the City of Geneva's policies on older people, while juxtaposing them with recently discussed or adopted international standards and principles. While Geneva stands out for its advancement in the field, the rapidly changing demographic reality requires constant and forward-looking thinking. We will explore how Geneva compares to international initiatives, including the draft International Convention on the Rights of Older Persons initiated in 2013. What can these comparisons between the world stage and the reality of Geneva teach us?
Within this demographic dynamic, the role of seniors in our societies is growing in importance. They are not only valuable players in our families, offering wisdom and experience, but also active and engaged members of our communities. Nevertheless, are their perspectives well understood by other generations? How do young people perceive the elders and how do they see themselves in this constantly changing society? In this dialogue, we will seek to weave these intergenerational threads, to understand and value each other's contributions and experiences. In this quest for mutual understanding, we aspire to build a society that recognizes and cherishes the richness that each generation brings.
This intergenerational dialogue offers a dynamic exchange platform that highlights the policies of the City of Geneva regarding the elderly, while juxtaposing them with the international standards and principles that have been recently discussed or adopted. As Geneva stands out for its advancement in the field, the rapidly evolving demographic reality calls for constant and forward-looking reflection. We will thus explore how Geneva compares to international initiatives, notably the project of an International Convention on the Rights of Older Persons initiated in 2013. What can we learn from these comparisons between the global stage and the Genevan reality?
Within this demographic dynamic, the role of the elderly in our societies is growing in importance. They are not only valuable actors in our families, offering wisdom and experience, but also active and committed members of our communities. However, are their perspectives well understood by other generations? How do the young perceive the elderly, and how do the latter see themselves in this constantly evolving society? In this dialogue, we will seek to weave these intergenerational threads, to understand and to value the contributions and experiences of everyone. In this quest for mutual understanding, we aspire to build a society that recognizes and cherishes the richness brought by each generation.
